Job Responsibilities

This position will support grant-specific program activities for Georgia Community-Engagement Research Alliance (GA CEAL) Reimagined Environments and Systems Together for Outcomes through Research and Evaluation for Sustainability (RESTORES), funded by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI)– NIH. The focus of the project is diabetes prevention among Black and Hispanic/Latinx parents and children in urban and rural areas in Georgia. Under limited supervision, the Research Assistant will be responsible for assisting in planning, implementing, and evaluating research activities. Research activities include but are not limited to implementing recruitment strategies, conducting focus groups/key informant interviews, analyzing and interpreting data, and engaging the community.

A community health worker model will support the recruitment and community engagement efforts in partnership with Morehouse School of Medicine, community partners, and department staff. Responsible for conducting program research activities:

• Conduct research and data analysis of quantitative and qualitative data

• Assist with recruitment activities

• Assist with qualitative and quantitative data collection materials and software (e.g., MAXQDA, Qualtrics, interview guides, focus groups, and surveys)

• Maintain accurate and organized records of research activities and data.

• Assist in managing IRB submissions and coordinating with project staff

• Attend project meetings

• Contribute to project biweekly reports, deliverables, and timelines

• Scientific stature activities, such as review published literature, and assist summarizing findings peer-reviewed manuscripts, conference submissions, and internal or external professional development opportunities

• Assist with calendar of events and outreach (utilizing CHWS and partners) to host the event

• Contribute as needed to proposals and business development activities.

• Perform work with moderate supervision from mid-and senior-level staff.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of experience performing work related to area of assignment
OR
Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Five years of experience performing work related to area of assignment
OR
One year of experience at the lower-level Healthcare Prgm Consultant 2 (HCP091) or position equivalent.
Note: Some positions may require licensure.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
In addition to the minimum qualifications, preference will be given to applicants who possess a master’s degree in public health, health education, community engagement, and community outreach experience. Preference will also be given to candidates with community-based participatory research, program management, evaluation, and health equity experience.
